Sonny Coble :::
sonnyc@cruizecontrol.net ::: For Bookings call: 336.202.0078
Lead vocalist and keyboard player, Sonny grew up with music in his life as far back as he can remember. His mother influenced him with her love of Elvis who he impersonated as a young boy at his parents dinner parties. His first love was drums which he played for many years until he began “banging” on the piano (as his parents used to say). As a self taught musician, Sonny has continued to play keyboards over the years in church and various bands. Sonny’s vocal work in public began in church where he sang and played gospel, contemporary Christian, weddings and memorial services. One of his highlights was mastering Ave Maria in Latin for a cousin’s wedding. Other influences for Sonny range from oldies to Motown, rock, funk, disco, pop and contemporary jazz.

I am a self taught drummer and have been playing for over twenty years. I’ve played with one of the greatest bands ever...the radio! I have also played with a couple of groups - Crawdad and Sideline - and play contemporary Christian music at the church I attend. I've been married nineteen years and have three children. I like to listen to smooth jazz, Rhythm & Blues and Motown.

A versatile horn player, Caldwell has over 50 years experience playing horns including the soprano, alto, tenor and baritone sax, saxello, clarinet, harmonica and he sings vocals as well. He began with the clarinet in sixth grade and self-taught himself the saxophone in the seventh when he joined a local Triad-area band. In 1959, the band became The Invictas, and for the next four years was one of the top front and touring bands on the East Coast. Caldwell appeared with many of the great acts of the time including James Brown, Ray Charles, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Drifters, The Coasters, The Platters, Jayne Mansfield, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Bill Haley and the Comets, the Isley Brothers, Brenda Lee and Bill Craddock to name a few. He left The Invictas for college in 1963 but still continued his music. During his college years he appeared with The Embers, Doug Clark and the Hot Nuts, The Clovers, The Marcels and toured with The Shirelles. After college and three years in the Army, he began a career of 27 years with the US Government. Even then he continued to play, however this time it was in Nashville where he appeared with Paul Overstreet, Billy Swan, Dolly Parton, Chet Atkins, Floyd Cramer, Lloyd Green and many other country music superstars. After retirement from his day-job, he joined a Motown band in Louisville and eventually moved to the Washington DC area where he worked with Neal McCoy, Chad Brock and participated in the making of a CD with the Charlie Daniels Band. In 2001 he became and still is a member of The Blue Brothers Band with Dan Aykroyd and John Goodman. He recorded with Big Al Downing and has performed a number of shows with Jeff “Skunk” Baxter and Catfish Hodges as a member of the Miller Lite All Star Blues Band. In 2003 Caldwell returned to the Triad where he was instrumental in forming FAT CITY. To his recollection, he has appeared with over 50 National acts. During the breaks, be sure to ask him as he loves to talk about his life on the road with the big stars!

Lead Vocals (residing in Germanton, NC)...I have been performing for 25 years in various bands ranging from pop to beach to funk. I started with a band in Goldsboro called THE PULSE BAND. I also played drums for the Occasions reunion concerts in 1991. I moved with my family to Germanton in 1993 and started playing with The Overtime Band which later became The Original Dockside Band.
